Sudha used ArtYarns Cashmere 4 in colors 267 and 250. Her only modification was to knit a hat within a hat for a reversable style and for extra warmth.

Charity Knitting

Nine Rubies Knitting is honored to be sponsoring a project to knit for the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital. The drive is being spearheaded by one of our customers – Sharon. The patients are in need of lap blankets, fingerless mitts, scarves and hats. We are serving as a drop-off point for all of these items, which will be donated in bulk in early October. The hospital only asks that the knits be durable and machine washable. Preferably, we would like bright colors used to make these knits nice and cheerful for the Vets. Lap blankets should measure approximately 36″x48″.

We are also offering this incentive: bring in your ball bands when you drop off your finished item, and for each ball of yarn used in your project we will give you $1 in store credit. Of course, the yarn must have been bought at Nine Rubies.

We will also be happy to help you find some nice patterns and yarn to get started. For more information about the charity effort, head on over to the dedicated Ravelry Group: Knits for Palo Alto Veterans Hospital . Before the items are donated in October, we will also be hosting a trunk show at the store, in which everyone will have the opportunity to show off their finished projects and chat about the experience! Stay tuned for more information in the fall.
