Welcome to 2007!

Whew!  What a relief to have the crush of holiday knitting behind us.  We’ve been busy planning new classes and events, as well as more sessions with our popular instructors.

First, the big news:  We are honored and delighted that renowned author Nancy Bush will be coming to Nine Rubies Knitting.  She will be teaching her popular 6-hour workshop based on her book Knitting Vintage Socks. This class sold out in hours at Stitches West.

Vintage Socks

You’ll make a sampler in this class, using techniques adapted from Nancy’s new book including a very interesting heel and toe shaping not commonly used today. Students should have intermediate knitting skills and be familiar with using double point needles.  Prior sock knitting experience preferred.

Here are the details:
Date:  Monday, February 26th
Time:  9 am – 3 pm (with ½ hour break for lunch, which will be provided)
Cost:  $115 (10% discount to store members)

We anticipate high demand for this class and have limited space.  Please call the store (650-685-6205) or stop by to register. That is the only way to guarantee your spot.

For those customers who have been waiting for the right time to learn to knit socks, we’ve added another session of our popular socks class.  It will be completed before Nancy’s workshop, so you can put your new skills to excellent use right away.  Those class dates are:  January, 27th, February 3rd, 10th.  It’s 3-5 pm and is $75.  As always, store member get 10% off.

Last but not least, we know that a lot of our customers would love to knit a sweater for themselves, but they find the prospect of an adult sweater daunting as a first-time project.  We’ve got the perfect class for you:  Julie Montanari is teaching a baby cardigan class on Monday nights from 6-8 pm, beginning January 22nd.  The class will run for four consecutive weeks, so the last class is February 12th.  Along the way, Julie will demystify all those shaping acronyms like SSK, K2TOG, etc., you’ll learn about seaming and buttonholes, and more.  Not only that, you’ll end up with a great baby gift! Then, you’ll have all the skills you need to make something great for yourself.  The cost for the class is $120 (10% off for store members).  Supplies are additional.
